About Us

Overnight, Dorothy was swept away by a tornado, only to find herself in strange territory known as the Magical Land of Oz. To return to Kansas, she seeks out the infamous Wizard of Oz, but it is unlikely she would've gotten far if it weren't for the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Lion—the small circle she'd managed to build during her journey across The Land of Oz–others who were looking for the Wizard of Oz. They provided Dorothy with support during a very confusing time, and they accepted her as one of their own despite her unfamiliar origins. Although her time with them was brief, her visit to their home was made a lot more comfortable by their presence, and she never had to feel alone or overwhelmed by her new surroundings. It was thanks to them that she didn't feel completely alien. They were her community.

This is a safe space for troubled teens who find solace in the warm, rough pages of a book whether by relating to a certain character or by drifting into the reality in between their hands. For however long you plan to be a member of this book club, we hope it is a place you can comfortably communicate and form therapeutic relationships with both our group of chameleons and the worlds folded into paperback. We also wish to show you that books can be more than just a way to escape reality; they can be an outlet for expressing your own views and helping you to recognize aspects of yourself in the stories they contain. We wish to be your community.

Oz The Chameleon

You may be familiar with the moniker "bookworm," and while it's accurate, we feel as though all book lovers have a thing or two in common with the chameleon. Whenever you dive into a book, you are conjuring an imaginative world around yourself, one where you, momentarily, disconnect from the real world, and join in on the story between your hands–you can cast yourself whichever role you want, whether that be as simple as a forest dweller on an epic journey or a lost in a magical land in search of a way home. You can embody whatever role, whatever color, and for a few minutes, you’ll be pulled into the current of your book, travelling through the pages with the characters within.
