It all started when a 15-year-old in high school became friends with Dorothy.

Books have always been a safe place to escape to; no matter which world, realm, or reality I went to, for a few blissful minutes, I could sit down next to my cat and imagine what it would be like in a whole different world. Slowly, as I adapted to certain genres, I found hints of myself in so many characters, sprinklings of my life in so many stories. But that also made me realize something I was missing: community. It was only after I realized how much I'd wanted it for myself that I realized I couldn't be the only one.

We believe in making an impact not only quantitively, but qualitatively; for however long you may plan to be a member of Dearest Dorothy, we wish for it to be a place they can comfortably communicate and form trusting relationships with other teens like yourself.
